Following a train derailment on the Arizona – New Mexico state line on April 26, officials closed eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 40 for a prolonged period of time, as hazardous smoke plumes made driving conditions unsafe and extremely difficult. Firefighters on site watched over a controlled burn of fuel, which consumed most of the train cars. On Sunday, firefighters removed debris from the area to allow for early repair of the tracks.

January 22, 2024

On Friday, January 5, more than 100 firefighters were called to respond to a four-alarm fire in New Jersey. A large industrial complex caught fire, setting several businesses and the surrounding landscape ablaze. At the scene, three roofs collapsed, forcing fire trucks to position a mutual aid collapsed zone. Inside the burning structure were toys, leading to many plastics and toxins being released into the air. In response to the toxins, local authorities delayed and canceled school to prevent students from breathing in those fumes. Ultimately, no individuals were in the building when the fire broke out and there have since been no reports of injury, but the sheer size and scale of the incident caused delays in the community’s schedule.

November 27, 2023

On November 11th, 2023, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a brush fire in Downtown Los Angeles. The fire was set in a storage yard filled with pallets, trailers and vehicles that were near a set of exposed buildings. The incident was immediately upgraded to a structure fire upon discovery, which led to the swift delivery of additional resources.

Last week in Washington, D.C., Team RIPSAW was on display at the 2023 AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition. The RIPSAW® M3, which was down selected for Phase 1 of the Army's Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) program, was showcased in Textron Systems' booth. The larger RIPSAW M5 was displayed in American Rheinmetall's booth with their payload.
